About Us

The Kampala Anti-Pollution Association (KAPA) is a non-profit organization based in Kampala, Uganda, committed to advocating for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable urban environment. The organization was established in response to the growing environmental and public health challenges caused by pollution in Kampala, particularly in informal settlements and densely populated urban communities.

Rapid urbanization, increased industrial activity, poor waste management systems, and limited environmental awareness have led to rising levels of air, water, and land pollution across the city. These environmental challenges disproportionately affect vulnerable populations including children, youth, and low-income communities.

KAPA works collaboratively with communities, government agencies, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and the private sector to develop sustainable solutions that reduce pollution, promote environmental responsibility, and improve the quality of life for Kampala’s residents.

Through advocacy, research, education, and community engagement, the organization seeks to create a city where environmental protection, public health, and sustainable development go hand in hand.
